Die nuwe vertaling van die Bybel het in 1983 verskyn. Die eindredaksie van die 1983-vertaling was prof. E.P. Groenewald, J.P. Oberholzer, A.H. van Zyl, P.A. Verhoef, J.L. Helberg en W. Kempen. Die vertaling slaag uitstekend in sy doel om Afrikaanssprekendes binne en buite die kerk aan te spreek in ’n eietydse dog waardige Afrikaans.
